Sustainable Craftsmanship at MELIMELI

At MELIMELI, sustainability is a natural part of our DNA. We actively work to minimise our environmental impact by carefully selecting materials and production methods that are gentle on our planet. By maintaining control over the entire production chain, we ensure high quality, reduce waste, and create furniture and interior details that stand the test of time – both aesthetically and functionally.

On-Demand – Sustainability Through Conscious Production

We believe in mindful consumption and strive to reduce overproduction by manufacturing our furniture and many of our interior details on-demand. This means we produce in line with demand rather than mass-producing and risking surplus.

– Less waste – We only create what is needed, reducing excess materials and unnecessary resource consumption.
– Unique choices – Our customers can customise large parts of our collection, selecting the exact colour and fabric that suit their home.
– Higher quality – By avoiding rushed production, we ensure that each piece receives the care and attention it deserves.

We see this as a responsible way to offer personalised, tailor-made solutions while contributing to a more sustainable future.

Responsible Furniture Manufacturing in Europe

Our furniture is crafted in Poland, where we collaborate with local partners to ensure sustainable and responsible production. One of our key partnerships is with a local sawmill that sources wood from nearby FSC®-certified forests, reducing transport emissions and supporting sustainable forestry.

At our factory, the entire production process takes place under one roof – from carpentry and metalwork to upholstery and finishing. This allows us to:

– Minimise transport and unnecessary emissions
– Maximise material usage from each tree
– Ensure that every product meets our high-quality standards

We regularly visit our factory and suppliers to guarantee that working conditions, materials, and manufacturing processes align with our expectations.

More Design, Less Waste

We strive to use resources as efficiently as possible. By carefully planning our production, we reduce waste from both wood and textiles. Where possible, we repurpose leftover materials and always consolidate shipments to minimise emissions. Thanks to our central European production, we also keep transport distances short to our key markets.

Sustainability Benefits of Reijmyre Glasbruk

– Uses lead-free crystal
– Powered by hydro and wind energy
– Recycles all discarded glass

Operates eco-friendly kilns with no nitrogen oxide or carbon dioxide emissions

By choosing Swedish-made glass, we avoid long transport distances and help preserve a historic craft tradition.

Ceramics – Craftsmanship with Care

Our ceramics are made with the utmost attention to detail in Gustavsberg Porslinskvarter by artist Sabrina Vaino, as well as by La Gabbianella, an Italian manufacturer with deep roots in traditional craftsmanship.

Ceramics from Gustavsberg – Scandinavian Precision & Sustainability

At Gustavsberg, skilled artisans combine traditional techniques with modern methods to ensure durability and minimise environmental impact.

Trays – Certified Wood for a Sustainable Future

Our trays are made from FSC®-certified wood, ensuring that we only use timber from responsibly managed forests.

How Our Trays Contribute to a Greener Planet

– Wood naturally stores carbon dioxide and is a renewable resource
– We use only certified suppliers to guarantee reforestation
-Production waste is reused to minimise material waste

We have also implemented a resource-efficient strategy, where we recycle waste, use green energy, and heat our facilities with wood scraps from production.

By choosing our trays, you’re supporting sustainable craftsmanship and a more responsible future.
